The AI prompt below will work as-is, but for best results, copy and paste your resume into the Resume toggle. If you wish, you can also fill in additional information or add a generic cover letter. Then, enter the jobs postings you would like a cover letter written for into the table at the bottom. Finally, click ‘Generate’ on the AI block! Now you can look over the AI generated cover letters and manually edit, or highlight the text and click ‘Ask AI’ to rewrite the passage with some assistance or additional prompts. You can also add instructions to the original AI prompt that’s provided if there’s any particular skills you’d like the AI to emphasize in your cover letters.

In theory, the more information you provide about yourself and your prospective role, the better your cover letter will turn out. Unfortunately, Notion AI is sometimes slow or does not work when there’s too much text on this page. So it might take a few tries to find a balance. If the job description and qualifications are minimal, I’ve tested the prompt on up to 10 cover letters at a time. If you’ve included more details about the jobs, you might want to reduce the number of jobs to 3-5 at a time.

If you already have a solid cover letter written, but need details like the position title and company filled out, you can highlight the text and use Ask AI to customize the generic cover letter for each job in the table.
